More Kookaburra facts....
Possibly the most iconic bird in the Australian bush, the Laughing Kookaburra has one of the most memorable and unmistakably raucous calls of all our feathered Aussie friends.
Native to eastern mainland Australia, and introduced to Tasmania, Flinders Island, Kangaroo Island, and southwest Australia, the Laughing Kookaburra is a stocky bird, and largest of all the kingfishers. Kookaburras live in woodland territories (including forests) in loose family groups, and eat insects, mice, and reptiles such as lizards, frogs, and even snakes! Hearing a family of kookaburras in full voice is one of the more extraordinary experiences of the Australian bush.
