Superb Blue Wrens Postcard Pop-Out

The Superb Blue Wren is a much loved Australian bird thanks to their beautiful colours and vibrant personalities. The males and females are quite different in appearance. The male is bright blue, black and brownish grey, while the female is more subdued in colour with brownish grey feathers, and a reddish-orange area around the eyes. Blue Wrens grow to about 14cm (5.5 inches) in length and live in a range of habitats from open forest and woodland to scrub. They construct their dome-shaped nests from grasses and other fine material in a low lying bush. Blue Wrens live their lives in small, territorial social groups, and feed on insects found in undergrowth and lower foliage. They appear to bounce around from branch to branch in pursuit of food.
